Adam Witmer

Adam Witmer completed his undergraduate degree in Bioengineering at The University of California, Riverside. His undergraduate research projects include designing a system for the efficient incorporation of unnatural amino acids in engineered proteins. This system is applicable in diagnostics, therapeutics as a means molecular conjugation and control of protein orientation. Adam worked in the laboratory of Dr. Jiayu Liao to complete this project.

Adam returned to UCR as a Ph.D. student in the field of bioengineering, working in the lab of Dr. Bir Bhanu. His proposed research focuses on development of an automated program for segmentation of differentiating neural stem cells in time lapse video microscopy. This system will allow researches to characterize aspects of cellular differentiation, in order to better understand the underlying mechanisms of these processes.
